State Representative Janet Bewley (D-Ashland) will run for the Senate seat being vacated by Senator Bob Jauch (D-Poplar). Bewley represents the 74th Assembly District in northwestern Wisconsin. “The many people I have met, the complicated issues I had to learn and understand, the thousands of miles of roads I have traveled only solidify my desire to serve the people of the north,” Bewley said in a statement. “I’ve been there, done that, and I want to do it again.”
Jauch, who has represented the 25th Senate District since 1987, announced his intentions to retire in October. Bewley was first elected to the Assembly in 2010 and previously served on the Ashland City Council. There are no other announced candidates for the Senate seat.
