Crash claims three young lives

December 16, 2013 By WRN Contributor

A traffic crash in northwest Wisconsin last week has claimed the lives of three young girls. Counselors are on hand at the Unity School District in Balsam Lake again today, following a Thursday traffic crash that has taken the life of three kids, two with ties to the Unity school District. “We’ve got additional counseling services here at school for students, as well as staff and community members who may need to talk to someone during this difficult time,” said Unity School district administrator Brandon Robinson.

Eleven-year-old Lydia Millberg and 5-year-old Clara Pavek died Thursday in a traffic crash near Prescott, when a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Kari Milberg of Centuria collided with a truck on state highway 35 near Prescott. Five-year-old Laynie Jo Amos died Saturday afternoon. Lydia was a student at Unity, Laynie attended pre-kindergarten at Unity last year and was a kindergartener this year at Amery, while Clara attended school at Prescott.

Kari Millberg was a Unity High school graduate and remains in critical condition.
