Suspect charged with plotting escape

December 16, 2013 By WRN Contributor

A man accused of burning a woman’s body is his backyard fire pit is arrested for plotting to escape from the Rock County Jail. Nathan Middleton is in jail on a $100,000 cash bond on two felony charges of hiding and mutilating a corpse. The 29-year-old Middleton is accused of burning the body of 18-year-old Aprina Paul of Fitchburg on his property in rural Evansville, back in November.

According to a news release from the Rock County Sherifff’s Office, during security checks at the jail, corrections officers learned that Middleton was planning an escape from the jail in Janesville.  Sheriff’s Office Detectives say Middleton had communicated to other inmates as well as people on the outside about his escape plan.

Middleton was arrested for solicitation to escape jail, and his security has been increased. He is due in court at 3:00 p.m. on December 16th.
