St. Norbert College has named Steve Opgenorth as its new football coach. The 32-year-old becomes the Green Knights’ tenth head football coach
after two seasons as offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. Opgenorth is a Green Bay native and graduate of Green Bay Southwest High School. He is a 2005 graduate of Winona State University, where he was a standout specialist with the Warriors.
Prior to his arrival at Colby College, Opgenorth had stints at Carroll College, Winona State and Albright.
Opgenorth replaces Jim Purtill, who resigned last month after 15-years at St. Norbert College. Purtill finished with a 130-30 mark, 11 Midwest Conference titles and 10 appearances in the NCAA Division 3 playoffs.
