Woman found dead following police standoff in Kenosha

December 5, 2013 By WRN Contributor

A 37-year-old man is in police custody, after a SWAT team was forced to storm a Kenosha home Wednesday following a ten hour standoff at the residence. Police say the body of a woman was found in the basement of the house.

Police were first called to the home at about 5 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a 911 call about shots being fired. The suspect refused to leave a house or cooperate with police, forcing officers to close off several blocks surrounding the home. A nearby elementary school was also put on partial lockdown.

Paramedics stood ready as Police used a “flash-bang” device to enter the home in the late afternoon, taking the 37-year old man into custody, and then finding the victim. Police say the man surrendered without incident.

The names of the suspect or the woman found in the basement have not been released.
