The 14th ranked Wisconsin men’s hockey team pulled off a weekend sweep of the 8th ranked Michigan Wolverines, winning twice at the Kohl Center. The latest victory was a 3-1 decision before a season high 14,273 at the Kohl Center..
The crowd, the largest since Feb. 18, 2012, watched Wisconsin (13-6-1, 4-2-0-0 Big Ten) run its home record to 12-1-1, while garnering its second-straight conference sweep in the process.
Wisconsin got goals from Frankie Simonelli, Chase Drake and Joseph LaBate. Joel Rumpel moved to 10-1-0 on the season, stopping 28 of 29 shots on goal.
Wisconsin was 0 for 3 on the power play, Michigan’s lone goal game on a playoff tally.
The Badgers have their second-to-last bye week of the season next weekend, before hosting Ohio State on Jan. 24-25.
