UW System finalists named

January 2, 2014 By Bob Hague

We should know by this time next week who the next President of the University of Wisconsin System president will be. UW System President Kevin Reilly stepped down last month. His successor will become the eighth president of the 26 campus system.

Three finalists have been named – Ray Cross is Chancellor of University of Wisconsin Colleges and UW-Extension, Peter Garland is with the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, and Robert King is President of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education.

System spokesman Dave Giroux said the public will get a chance to see all three candidates in a statewide teleconference on Monday. The selection committee will then make a recommendation to the Board of Regents, which will vote on Thursday.
