Wisconsin native killed in Purdue campus shooting

January 22, 2014 By WRN Contributor

The victim of a shooting at Purdue University Tuesday was a Wisconsin native. 21-year-old Andrew Boldt of West Bend was killed when a fellow student at the university opened fire on the West Lafayette, Indiana campus.

Boldt’s grandmother, Joyce Boldt, lives in the Manitowoc area. She says her grandson was a teaching assistant who was on schedule to graduate in May and was always trying to help everybody.

Boldt graduated from Marquette University High School in Milwaukee in 2010. Joyce Boldt says Andrew’s mother tried to get in touch with him after hearing about the shooting afternoon, but was unable to get through.

Police say Boldt was shot and killed by a fellow electrical engineering teaching assistant. Cody Cousins surrendered to police and is now facing murder charges.
