Police identify body found near Lake Wausau

May 30, 2014 By WRN Contributor

Police have identified the man found dead along the shore of Lake Wausau. He was Ezequias Mendez-Perez. Mendez-Perez went missing on Memorial Day Monday and was found dead on his 29th birthday Tuesday.

Mendez-Perez was reportedly intoxicated when he died. He was found by a female friend that lived with him on large rocks at the base of a steep embankment next to the water. The roommate told Wausau police Mendez-Perez commonly used this steep trail to walk to and from an area bar.

An autopsy showed Mendez-Perez had hypothermia, and suffered a head and neck injury which appeared to be accidental. They are still waiting for toxicology test results, which may take a few weeks.
