Janesville Police have made an arrest in connection with the death of a 21-year-old Edgerton woman.

Deputy Police Chief Dan Davis says officers arrested 28-year-old Clayton Courtney Thursday afternoon, after the state crime lab determined that blood found on his pants belonged to Britney Cross.

Cross’ body was found by police on May 5th. An autopsy revealed her death was caused by blunt force trauma to her head.

Courtney has been in custody since before Cross’ body was found, after police say he stabbed a roommate multiple times. He’s already been charged with attempted homicide, reckless endangerment, and arson in that case.

Davis says they have investigated Courtney’s claim during the stabbing attack that he had killed multiple people, but have found no evidence to confirm Courtney is linked to any other murders. When it comes to the case of a 75-year-old woman who went missing around the time Cross was killed, and whose body was later found in the Rock River, Davis says they are still investigating.
