Republican state Senator Neal Kedzie (R-Elkhorn) concludes a 17-year career in Wisconsin’s Legislature.

The Elkhorn Republican had announced last month that he would retire when his current term ends, but in a statement Kedzie says in order to pursue a “new opportunity” that has presented itself, he must resign from the Senate immediately rather than finish his full term.

Kedzie was elected to the Senate in 2002 after serving four years in the Assembly.
