Congress could not adjourn for the year until it passes a budget, and other spending bills, under a proposal from a northeast Wisconsin lawmaker.
Congressman Reid Ribble (R-WI) says federal lawmakers have n0t finished that work before leaving, since 1974, and he thinks that’s unacceptable. The Sherwood Republican’s bill would ban Congress from recessing for more than 24 hours, until members finish their work.
Ribble says he’s pushing the proposal now, hoping that people will put pressure on congressmen and senators when they’re campaigning.
