Wisconsin ranked 17th best state by magazine

January 20, 2015 By Bob Hague

Wisconsin is among the top twenty states, according to a new ranking. POLITICO MAGAZINE compiled 14 existing rankings on things like education, unemployment and crime for the 50 states and the District of Columbia, using the most recent data from multiple sources. Averaging out each state’s rankings resulted in a master list and by those measures, Wisconsin is number 17.

That’s good, but two neighboring states ranked higher. Minnesota tied for first with New Hampshire, Iowa was 7th. Neighbors Illinois and Michigan ranked 27th and 34th, respectively. Mississippi was last in the second year of the “States of our Union” ranking.
