A third candidate has officially entered next spring’s race for the state Supreme Court. District 1 Court of Appeals Judge Rebecca Bradley formally announced her decision to enter the race Thursday morning in Milwaukee.

Bradley will be running against fellow state appellate court Judge Joanne Kloppenburg and Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Joe Donald, for a seat being vacated by retiring Justice Patrick Crooks. Crooks announced earlier this week he would not seek a third ten year term on the court.

The three candidates will face each other in a primary election next February, with the top two moving on to a general election in the spring.

Bradley was appointed the Court of Appeal in May of this year, after previously serving as a Milwaukee County Circuit Court since 2012. She was first appointed to the bench by Governor Scott Walker, and won her first re-election in 2013. Her campaign says she practiced law in the private sector for more than 16 years, before becoming a judge.
