The sponsor of a bill banning medical research on tissue from aborted fetuses in Wisconsin responds to word that a major GOP donor spoke out against the plan. Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce coming out against a bill to ban medical research on tissue from aborted fetuses caught Representative Andre Jacque (R-DePere) off guard.

“It was not something that I was forewarned about, either in terms of the my colleagues in the Assembly or with WMC,” Jacque said. “That being said, I still see a lot of positives moving forward”

An Assembly committee endorsed the bill last week. Jacque said that Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce has never come out against this bill in prior sessions. WMC president Kurt Bauer said his group’s bio-science members are worried about the ability to perform medical studies if the measure passes.
