Badger women’s soccer wins Big Ten Crown

October 25, 2015 By Bill Scott

Motion WThe Wisconsin women’s soccer team captured the Big Ten Championship on Saturday night.  Micaela Powers goal in the 81st minute gave the Badgers a 1-0 win over Maryland in College Park to clinch at least a share of Wisconsin’s first Big Ten regular season title since 1994.

Wisconsin (11-4-3, 8-1-1 Big Ten) returns home on Wednesday for its home and regular-season finale against Northwestern with a chance to claim the title outright.

The game appeared headed for overtime until Powers picked a great time to score her first goal of the year.

Wisconsin’s run of eight straight wins matches the fifth-longest streak in school history and the first of that length since 1987.
