St. Norbert’s Vanden Avond sets NCAA D-3 scoring record

St. Norbert College senior Katie Vanden Avond has tied the NCAA Division III career record for goals with 124, previously set by Luther College’s Katie Pettigrew from 2001-04.

Vanden Avon’s goal game in the Green Knights 1-0 win over Grinnell in Midwest Conference soccer action.

Following the game, St. Norbert College president Tom Kunkel announced the retirement of Vanden Avond’s number-three.  Her number is the first St. Norbert female athlete’s to be retired.

St. Norbert next faces UW-La Crosse at Schneider Stadium in De Pere at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
