Marquette trounced at home by Iowa

MarquetteGoldenEagles2The Marquette Golden Eagles fell to Iowa 89-61 in the first Big East/Big Ten Challenge.

Iowa coach Fran McCaffery won his 99th game in his sixth season with the Hawkeyes.  Iowa took a 27 point lead at halftime and the Hawkeyes were never challenged.

Jarrod Uthoff led the Hawkeyes with 15 points.  Freshman Haanif Cheatham scored 12 for Marquette, which shot just 39-percent from the field and hit just 7 of 30 three-point field goals.

The Golden Eagles fell to 1-2 and will face 23rd ranked LSU on Monday in New York in the Legends Classic.
