The Green Bay Phoenix women’s basketball team came flying out of the gates on Sunday afternoon and cruised to a 72-58 victory over the Wisconsin Badgers at the Kohl Center.
The Phoenix shot 78.6% from the field in the first quarter, scoring 28 points. The 28 point output was Green Bay’s highest output in a quarter this season.
The Phoenix (6-2) got 16 points from Mehryn Kraker and Jessica Lindstrom. Allie LeClaire added 15.
Nicole Bauman had 16 points to lead the Badgers (3-6).
Marquette holds off Auburn
The Marquette women erased a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter and knocked off Auburn 70-69 in overtime at the Al McGuire Center.
The Tigers (6-2) led 48-39 midway through the final quarter, but the Golden Eagles knocked down three three-pointers in the final 1:20, including a tying basket by Natisha Hiedeman with eight seconds left to play.
