The Beloit Police Department is asking for help locating a vehicle believed to have been involved in a shooting that claimed the life of a five-year-old boy.

The shooting Friday night occurred while the boy was riding in a vehicle with his father. The boy, identified Saturday as Austin R. Ramos Jr. of Beloit, was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police are now  searching for a maroon SUV seen in the area at the time of the shooting. The vehicle is described as being either a 1990s or 2000s model.

Department officials say they are reviewing security footage from the area, but are also asking for help from the public in locating the vehicle.
