Sanders, Cruz lead presidential race in latest Marquette poll

March 30, 2016 By Andrew Beckett

A new Marquette University Law School Poll shows Republicans Ted Cruz and Democrat Bernie Sanders leading the race for their party’s nomination in Wisconsin.

The poll shows Texas Senator Ted Cruz with a big lead over Donald Trump and John Kasich in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. It shows Cruz with about 40 percent of support among likely voters, Trump with just over 30 percent, and Kasich with 21 percent.

On the Democratic side, Sanders had a narrower lead over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, with the Vermont Senator pulling about 49 percent support compared to Clinton’s 45 percent.

Wisconsin’s presidential preference primary is on April 5th.
