Dodge County Sheriff critical of SNL heroin skit

April 18, 2016 By WRN Contributor

Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says he has sent a letter to NBC after Saturday Night Live aired a skit about heroin. The skit is a commercial parody, and shows middle class parents talking about why they use the drug.

Sheriff Schmidt says his letter to NBC expresses his concern and asks the network to “take action to remedy the situation.” He says those remedies should include making sure broadcasts like Saturday’s do not happen again. The Sheriff also said he is urging NBC to apologize to those “who suffer and are victimized by this extraordinarily addictive drug.”

Heroin is a growing problem in Wisconsin and several other states. Opiate use has grown considerably in the U.S. with the increase in use of prescription drugs.
