A convicted bank robber wanted on federal probation and parole violations is dead, after being shot and killed by an Eau Claire County sheriff’s deputy Sunday morning.
Eau Claire County Sheriff Ron Kramer said the deputy had pulled the driver over for an illegal turn at about 6:45 Sunday morning. During the stop, the deputy realized the driver had two outstanding federal warrants. Kramer said the driver tried to attack the officer with an “electronic device,” which he said left the officer no choice but to use “deadly force.”
The deputy is on administrative leave, per department policy. The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the incident.
