Woman dies after being hit by semi in Racine County

May 31, 2016 By WRN Contributor

A woman is dead after being struck by a semi-truck along a central Racine County Highway early Tuesday morning.

It happened around 3 a.m. along Highway 11, where sheriff’s deputies found the victim with very shallow breathing. The woman had to be taken by ambulance to an area hospital with major head trauma because Flight For Life was grounded as a result of storms in the area. The 43-year old woman later died

Deputies say it appears the woman had exited a pickup truck to retrieve her dog after it had gotten loose. The State Patrol’s accident reconstruction team has been brought in for the investigation, while a news release says “at this time, it appears this is an unfortunate accident.”
