Walker’s 48 star Flag Day tweet

061416WalkerFlagA Flag Day Twitter flap for the governor. James Cagney famously sang George M. Cohan’s “You’re a Grand Old Flag.” Governor Scott Walker’s Flag Day tweet was accompanied by an image of a grand “old” flag – a 48 star banner dating to before statehood for Alaska and Hawaii.

The governor deleted the post within minutes, but screen shots circulated on social media. Walker posted a image with a 50-star flag about 40 minutes later, accompanying his original message: “Let us remember all that Old Glory stands for on Flag Day.”
