You might have to dance around raindrops, but free fishing and free state park admissions are being offered this weekend.

The Department of Natural Resources’ annual “Free Fun Weekend” takes place Saturday and Sunday at state parks, forests, trails, and fishing spots — with no licenses or park stickers necessary. The annual event is aimed at getting people “hooked” on fishing, and visiting the state’s natural areas.

There’s been strong participation in the weekend over the last three decades, but the weather might not be the best for it this year in several parts of the state. The National Weather Service says there’s a chance of thunderstorms and rain across much of the state through the weekend.
