Body of missing UW-Madison student found in river in Italy

July 4, 2016 By Andrew Beckett

Police in Italy have found the body of a missing University of Wisconsin Madison student.

The search for 19-year-old Beau Solomon had been ongoing since last Thursday, after he disappeared while out at a bar in Rome with friends. Solomon, who was from Spring Green and just completed his freshman year at the UW, was in Italy preparing to study abroad at John Cabot University .

In a statement released Monday, the University said Solomon’s body was found in the Tiber River.

Police in Rome told CBS News earlier in the day that the body was found about a mile away from the area where Solomon was last seen.
