Police in the Racine County Village of Mount Pleasant believe three early morning car dealership break-ins this week are related.

On Monday, police chased three stolen vehicles from a car dealership, arresting a 13-year-old after one of them crashed. Two more break-ins were reported Thursday morning.

Mount Pleasant Police Captain Brian Smith says the crimes are similar to recent incidents in Milwaukee, and they believe are gangs may be involved. “Certainly Milwaukee has their rash of the same type of activity. The MO is the same, as far as the break-ins and thefts of the vehicles – driving out through showrooms and bay doors.”

Smith says they will be keeping a close watch on large dealerships in the area. Police are also urging dealerships to make sure their alarms are working properly, and to make sure keys for vehicles on the lot are locked up at night.
