Department of Justice identifies officers in fatal New London shooting

August 25, 2016 By Andrew Beckett

071516PoliceLightThe state Department of Justice has identified the two New London police officers who fatally shot a man last week.

Officers Ryan Denu and Brody Erickson have been on paid administrative leave since last Friday’s fatal shooting of 31-year-old Kole Knight, while the Division of Criminal Investigation continues its probe. Knight was killed after police say he pointed a look-alike toy gun at police as officers approached him about an outstanding warrant.

Denu has been with the department since 2008, while Erickson joined in 2015. Neither officer has been involved in an officer-involved shooting before.

The Department of Justice plans to turn over its reports to the Outagamie County District Attorney’s office when their investigation is complete.
