Sheboygan Falls mom charged in toddler’s death

August 8, 2016 By WRN Contributor

A Sheboygan Falls woman is facing murder charges for the death of her son. Twenty-seven-year-old Katlyn Kinateder was charged on Monday with intentional homicide and hiding a body.

According to the criminal complaint, Kinateder was arrested Thursday afternoon after allegedly calling dispatch and saying she’d killed her child. Officers quickly responded. Officers were approaching the stairs up into a condominium, when she advanced on police with a large kitchen knife. Officers eventually convinced her to put the knife down, but she started fighting with officers. Police were forced to taze her to take her into custody.

Police and deputies then entered the home and after a search, found the child pulseless and not breathing inside a cardboard box, wrapped up in a blanket. Medical staff were called into to start life-saving efforts, and the boy was transported to St. Nicholas Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Kinateder was taken to the police department and interviewed. She allegedly confessed to suffocating her child with a plastic bag because she “lost her mind”. She also allegedly told police she’d stopped taking mental health medications a few months back, and told police she’d come at them with the knife because she wanted them to kill her.

Kinateder is being held on a $750,000 cash bond, and will be back in court for a preliminary hearing August 17th.
