Steven Avery’s attorney is asking for more time to work on the convicted killer’s appeal.

Kathleen Zellner filed paperwork with the state court of appeals today, with a request to suspend the schedule to file legal briefs. The deadline was Monday for Zellner to file a motion.

She told The New York Times last week that she’ll ask for DNA evidence from the crime scene. She plans to run tests that weren’t possible when Avery was on trial for the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach.

Zellner also told the paper that there’s evidence that points to another suspect.
