Sylville Smith’s sister says Milwaukee officer knew him

August 16, 2016 By Bob Hague

The sister of Sylville Smith, the man shot and killed by a Milwaukee police officer, claims the officer knew her brother and even went to the same high school. Shirrel Smith tells Fox 6 News that the officer, whose name has not been released, was no stranger to her family.

She also says she doesn’t believe police accounts of the shooting. “If my brother did have his gun in his hand, why he didn’t shoot back? If he is going to go out, why not go out with a fight? Why not go out with a big bang?

Smith says even if body cam video shows her brother holding a gun she still won’t believe the shooting was justified.

“This boy knew my brother personally, from high school. They knew each other.” A police source has confirmed to Fox 6 News that the officer involved in the case did attend the same high school as Sylville Smith.
