Weyauwega drowning victim identified

August 2, 2016 By WRN Contributor

Alcohol may have played a role in a man’s drowning death on Monday. Police in Weyauwega said 19-year-old Gustavo Hernandez of the Town of Weyauwega was pulled from the municipal swimming lake just after 4:00 p.m.

The lifeguard staff, law enforcement, and ambulance personnel administered CPR, but they were unable to resuscitate Hernandez, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the death appears to be an accidental drowning, but they also say alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor.

The swimming lake in Weyauwega remained closed on Tuesday.
