August home sales in Wisconsin strongest since 2005

September 19, 2016 By Andrew Beckett

Wisconsin home sales continued to grow during the month of August.

Wisconsin Realtors Association president Mike Theo said home sales in the state last month were the strongest they’ve been in more than a decade – up about nine percent from August of last year with just under 8,400 homes sold by WRA members. “It was the strongest August since 2005,” Theo said, adding that it really put an “exclamation point behind a very strong summer…for the real estate housing market.”

Median prices were also up about 5.3 percent, to $170,000.

Theo said continued low unemployment and interest rates helped fuel a continued growth in sales statewide.

Overall, Wisconsin homes sales so far this year are up about 4.4 percent over 2015. Median sales prices are up 4.8 percent.
