Sheboygan is one of the latest cities to be struck by an outbreak of reports about creepy clowns.
Police confirm that there were a number of calls to dispatch Monday night about clowns wandering around the city. Callers reported seeing them on north side of town and also in the lakefront area.
Officials from the department are reminding residents that wearing clown outfits in public is not a crime, and that police can’t arrest people simply because of what they’re wearing. If those individuals do end up committing crimes or trespassing, then the police can be called.
Police in several cities around the nation have been receiving reports about individuals in clown costumes appearing in public. In some areas, there have also been claims that clowns have tried to lure children into wooded areas.
