Obama endorses Crowley (UNDATED)
A high-profile endorsement for the Democratic candidate for Wisconsin governor. Former President Barack Obama endorsed Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley in a social media post Thursday.

This comes a day after President Donald Trump used an announcement of disaster aid for communities hit by tornados and severe storms to reiterate his endorsement of Congressman Tom Tiffany, who he first endorsed in January. The latest Marquette Poll shows a tight race – Crowley is favored by 46% of all registered voters, Tiffany by 45%, with 9% undecided.
Upcoming registration deadlines for Wisconsin voters (UNDATED)
There are upcoming registration deadlines for Wisconsin voters to know. Races for governor and congressional and legislative seats are on the ballot. Voters who plan to register to vote by mail must have a voter registration form postmarked to your municipal clerk no later than October 14. Voters who can match their name, date of birth, Wisconsin driver’s license or state ID number, and address with the DMV can register to vote online through October 14. The deadline to register to register to vote in your municipal clerk’s office is October 30, at 5 p.m. Voters can register in-person during office business hours of until the deadline. Wisconsin measles cases top 250 (UNDATED)
Wisconsin has seen more than 250 measles cases this year. The majority of confirmed or probable measles cases have been recorded in Lafayette, Iowa and Grant counties. Veron, Marathon and Chippewa counties have also reported cases. According to state health officials, those northern Wisconsin cases are linked to out of state travel and are not related to the cases in southwestern Wisconsin. Nearly all Wisconsin cases have been in unvaccinated individuals, and public health agencies remind you the best way to prevent measles is to get vaccinated with the MMR vaccine.
City Council may terminate interim Independent Police Monitor (MADISON)
A vote is expected later this month on the future of Madison’s interim Independent Police Monitor. A resolution was introduced at this week’s City Council meeting to terminate Aeiramique (arrow-meek) Glass’s appointment. The relationship between Glass and police became especially volatile this summer in the aftermath of the fatal officer involved shooting of Cory Ruiz, with Glass at one point threatening to “burn the city down”. The resolution before alders says Glass has made zero progress on her responsibility to help hire a permanent monitor. Glass responded, saying she’s gotten more done in 10 months than in six years. The City Council will meet on October 20th.
