Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy said he’ll handle the final exhibition
game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night at Lambeau Field similar to the way he has in the past.
“The starters will play a very limited time in the first quarter,” McCarthy said.
Because starters won’t play much on Thursday night, they’ve been handling scout team duties, while the reserves are getting more preparation time for this final game. Even Aaron Rodgers was taking scout team reps at quarterback, imitating Kansas City’s schemes.
Rodgers expects to play maybe a series on Thursday night. He said this week is for the reserves.
Mike McCarthy has repeatedly said there are jobs still to be decided going into the final preseason game.
Following Thursday’s game against Kansas City, the Packers coaches will meet the film and meet with the personnel staff to discuss the final roster. The Packers will have to reduce their roster from 75 to 53 players by 8pm Friday night.
