The 8th ranked Wisconsin Badgers jumped out to a 16-6 halftime lead against number-two Ohio State on Saturday night but settled for a 30-23 overtime loss against the Buckeyes.
After Ohio State scored in overtime, the Badgers had first and goal at the four and came up empty. Too many times, the Badgers settled for field goals instead of touchdowns. UW reached the Ohio State 4 and 9 yard lines in the second quarter but had to settle for field goals.
The Badgers suffered back-to-back losses now for the first time since the 2012 season. Wisconsin fell to 2-2 against top 10 teams this season.
The Badgers got their ground game going early and finished the first half with 170 rushing yards and 313 total yards.
Corey Clement finished regulation with 164 yards on 22 carries. Jazz Peavy had four catches for 76 yards and six carries for 70 yards.
J.T. Barrett was the key player for the Buckeyes, passing for 226 yards and rushing for 92 more.
The Buckeyes improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Big Ten.
The Badgers dropped to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the Big Ten. The Badgers face the Iowa Hawkeyes in Iowa City this coming Saturday. Iowa is 5-2 overran and 3-1 in the Big Ten.
