Badger Men’s Hockey earns #1 Seed

March 22, 2010 By Bill Scott

As the Badger Men’s Hockey team skated in the third place game of the WCHA Tournament Saturday, they knew a win would bode well for their NCAA seeding.  After a 6-3 victory over Denver, the Badgers got what they hoped for.

Wisconsin is the #1 seed in the West Region of the 16-team NCAA Hockey tournament.  The Badgers (25-10-4) will skate with Vermont (17-14-7) Friday night in St. Paul.  Wisconsin Head Coach Mike Eaves likes how consistent his team has been this year:

Vermont does not have a record to brag about with 17 wins and 14 loses, but Badgers Co-Captain Blake Geoffrion knows they can bring it:

A victory over Vermont Friday would put Wisconsin against either WCHA rival St. Cloud State or Northern Michigan Saturday.  In all 4-WCHA teams are in the field.  Denver is the #1 seed in the East while North Dakota the #2 seed in the Midwest.

The Frozen Four this Year is at Ford Field in Detroit April 8th and April 10th.  Friday’s face-off with Vermont is scheduled for around 8 PM.
