Hockey Badgers have little to play for in finale

March 8, 2010 By Bill Scott

Michael DaviesWisconsin had already clinched second place in the WCHA and it was senior day for the Minnesota Gophers at Mariucci Arena on Sunday.  The combination of the two led to a 6-1 Minnesota victory in the regular season finale.

Michael Davies scored the only goal for the Badgers (22-9-4, 17-8-3), who beat the Gophers 3-2 in the first game of the series on Friday night.

Minnesota seniors Tony Lucia and Mike Carmen each scored twice for the Gophers.

The Badgers will open the WCHA playoffs this Friday night at home against Alaska Anchorage at the Kohl Center.
