Badgers face Butler in the Sweet 16

March 24, 2011 By Bill Scott

Wisconsin will take the floor tonight in the Sweet of the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament for the first time since 2008.  The Badgers take on the Bulldogs of Butler in New Orleans.

The game will feature two of the top Junior Guards in the country.  Butler’s Shelvin Mack made preseason All-American in some publications while Wisconsin’s Jordan Taylor burst onto the scene with an impressive season.  Butler Head Coach Brad Stevens has high praise for Taylor:

The two teams entered the tournament on different paths.  Wisconsin was embarrassed by Ohio State in their regular season finale before bowing out of the Big Ten Tournament in one game with just 33-points on the scoreboard.

Butler has been hot.  They won 9-straight to closeout the year including winning the Horizon League Tournament.  Badger Guard Jordan Taylor is not shocked by the Bulldogs success:

Butler and Wisconsin will tip around 9:00 cst tonight in New Orleans.  The winner will take on the winner of the earlier Regional Semifinal between BYU and Florida.
