UW’s Taylor to try out for World University Games squad

June 8, 2011 By Bill Scott

USA Basketball announced today that Wisconsin senior Jordan Taylor has accepted an invitation to attend the 2011 USA Basketball

Jordan Taylor

Men’s World University Games Team training camp.

The camp runs from July 29-August 7 in Colorado Springs and will be used to select the 12-member team that will represent the United States at the 2011 World University Games men’s basketball competition, Aug. 13-23 in China.  Finalists are expected to be announced on July 31 with the final roster to be unveiled prior to the team’s departure for China on Aug. 8.

Purdue head coach Matt Painter will coach the American team and will be assisted by Butler’s Brad Stevens and Tennessee’s Cuonzo Martin.

Taylor emerged as one of college basketball’s top players last season, earning second-team All-American honors from the Associated Press.  Taylor led the NCAA with a 3.83 assist-to-turnover ration in 2010-11, while averaging 18.1 points and 4.7 assists per game.

Taylor is the latest Badger to be picked by USA Basketball, joining recent participants Bo Ryan and Jon Leuer.
