Marinette’s pool is cool

July 19, 2011 By WRN Contributor

The heat wave just goes to show how important a community pool can be. Since the weekend, crowds have descended upon the Marinette Civic Center Pool to cool off. Earlier this year the pool was in danger of being closed for the season. But needed repairs were eventually funded and the pool was able to open for the summer. Marinette Recreation Department Director Kent Kostelecky said days like these show the importance of the Civic Center Pool. “The community was very adamant that they wanted the resource of an outdoor pool,” said Kostelecky. “It’s just a great asset for our community.” To help beat the heat, the Marinette Recreation Department is extending evening open swim hours at the Civic Center Pool an extra hour.
