Longtime Milwaukee Brewers groundskeeper, Gary Vandenberg, passed away on Monday following a long battle with cancer. He was 59.
Vandenberg has been with the Brewers organization for more than 30 years.
The team will wear a patch on their uniforms for the remainder of the playoffs, honoring Vandenberg.
Fred Hirn says
I have had the pleasure to know Gary personally. Not only was he a great groundskeeper who I could tell everyone enjoyed working for and with him. Gary was also a great Husband, Father and Grandpa. Even with the sickness I could still see the joy he had when he was around his Wife, Sons and Grand Daughters. He will be greatly missed but also greatly remebered as well
