Marquette falls apart defensively, loses at Cincy

March 1, 2012 By Bill Scott

JaQuon Parker scored a career-high 28 points to lead Cincinnati to a 72-61 win over 8th ranked Marquette in Cincinnati on Wednesday night.

Marquette (24-6, 13-4) had won five straight, including a 95-78 win over the Bearcats in Milwaukee on Feb. 11.  The rematch was all Cincinnati.

The Bearcats repeatedly drove through Marquette’s defense for layups.  Defensively, Cincinnati’s front line blocked 9 Marquette shots with 7 of those being credited to Justin Jackson.

Darius Johnson-Odom had 18 points and Jae Crowder added 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Golden Eagles.

Cincinnati has won 6 of their last 8 games and improved to 5-3 against ranked teams this season.
