Marquette’s “Bat” becomes famous (AUDIO)

January 28, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Marquette Golden Eagles Men’s Basketball team defeated Providence 81-71 Saturday at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.  The story of the game wasn’t Marquette moving to 14-4 overall and 5-1 in Big East play.  Nor was it Junior Cadougan leading four Golden Eagles in double-figures with 15-points.  The big story was a “bat” that made an appearance.

The bat made several passes near the court causing many delays in the game as players and coaches searched for cover.  The story hit the headlines in numerous sports outlets including Sports Center, USA Today and even Deadspin.  The bat also has its own Twitter handle (@Bradleycntrbat). Marquette Head Coach Buzz Williams joked about the situation after the game:

Buzz Williams on not letting the bat get in the way of a win :10

It wasn’t the first time a bat was loose in a Wisconsin sports venue. The Green Bay Gamblers faced a bat in the Resch Center which created some controversy back in 2009.

There is no word if the bat will be in attendance tonight as the Golden Eagles host South Florida for an 8 pm tip-off.
