Mersch is the WCHA’s Offensive Player of the Week

March 6, 2013 By Bill Scott

Wisconsin right-winger Michael Mersch, who led all league players with six scoring points as the visiting Badgers swept conference-rival Nebraska-Omaha last weekend, was named the WCHA’s Offensive Player of the Week for March 5.

Mersch tallied three goals and three assists in Wisconsin’s 4-3 and 6-2 victories.  His three goals give him 20 for the season.  He’s one of five skaters in the nation with 20 goals, leading the Badgers with 32 points in 34 games.

A LA Kings Draft pick, Mersch has a 5-game point-scoring streak (4g, 5a) and has scored nearly 23.5% of the Badgers’ goals this season, the second-highest percentage for any player in the nation.
