Brewers blanked by Nationals

August 4, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Brewers offense went silent for the second straight night as they were blanked 3-0 by the Washington Nationals at Miller Park on Saturday.

The Brewers didn’t have many opportunities, but they did waste a chance in the first inning.  Rickie Weeks led off with a double and was sacrificed to third.  But Jean Segura struck out and after a walk to Jonathan Lucroy, Carlos Gomez popped up to end the threat.

Donovan Hand (0-3) got the start for the Brewers and took the loss.  He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits, including a pair of home runs.

The Brewers try to avoid the sweep against the Nationals on Sunday afternoon.
