Musso gets 1st shot at free safety

August 6, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Wisconsin Badgers opened their training camp doors on Monday with several

questions and very few answers at this point.  That’s expected, but the Badgers have to come up with those answers quickly.  They open the season August 31st against U-Mass.

Besides the quarterback position, the Badgers defensive backfield has some uncertainty.  Free safety could be next, finding someone to start alongside Dezmen Southward.  Redshirt freshman Leo Musso from Waunakee got the first chance to work with the ones on Monday.

Musso was moved from tailback to safety in the spring.

Badger coach Gary Anderson liked what he saw on day 1 from his quarterbacks in drill work, but when they made the transition to team work, their performance dropped off.

Chris Borland may be one of the best linebackers in the Big Ten Conference, but he was among many players fielding kickoffs during drills.

The Badgers are back on the practice field again today.
