Wisconsin volleyball in Final Four tonight

The Wisconsin Badger women’s volleyball team faces top-ranked and defending

NCAA champion Texas in the NCAA Final Four semifinals in Seattle tonight.

The Longhorns (27-2) have won 23 straight matches entering tonight’s matchup.

The Badgers are the 12-seed, making it the third 12-seed to reach the national semifinals in the last five years.  It’s also the second time UW has reached the Final Four in program history.  The first came appearance came back in 2000 under coach Pete Waite.

Kelly Sheffield is in his first year as the Badgers coach, taking over a program that hadn’t advanced to the NCAA tournament since 2007.

Tonight’s matchup starts at 6:30 and can be seen live on ESPN2.

Second-seeded Penn State (32-2) won the Big Ten title for the 10th time in the last 11 seasons.  The Nittany Lions will face 3rd-seeded Washington (30-2) in the second semifinal tonight.  The winners will square off in Saturday’s championship (8:30pm).
